The Columbus Lowndes Recreation Authority offers a unique opportunity for those with special needs to participate in sports here in Lowndes County. Their Challenger Baseball program has several members of all ages who get to play on a real baseball field with their friends and loved ones.  According to Challenger representative, Debbie Oglesby, “Everybody bats and takes the field.  They have buddies who help them. Some are family, but some are volunteers.  We play on this field in Propst Park every Friday at 6 p.m.  Come out to see them play.  It’s so rewarding to see them have so much fun.  We can always use volunteers.”  The teams are sponsored by Hollis Roofing and Nickels Wealth Management.  For more information contact Debbie Oglesby at 662-251-4021.
