LCSO Lt. Chad Waltman with his family.
Friends and family of Lowndes County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Waltman gathered at Chick-Fil-A in Columbus on Monday evening in order to participate in Spirit Night for Chad Waltman. The event was held to show support as he battles leukemia. From 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., 15% of all proceeds earned will go directly to Chad and his family. Supporters also sold cookies to help raise additional funds. Lt. Waltman left on Tuesday to return to Birmingham to prepare for a bone marrow transplant at University of Alabama, Birmingham. The process will take three to 4 months. Waltman and his wife, Trish, along with their three children were in attendance at the event. He stated, “We are so blessed to have such great family and friends. The support we have received from everybody is just great. We appreciate it so much.” For more information or to donate to the family visit: www.gofundme.com/chad-waltmans-leukemia-treatment.
