When a disaster strikes, communities rally together to assist in many ways: collecting clothing and food, as well as water and items to help clean up so their lives can return to some semblance of normalcy. Across the country, collection rallies are being held and funds are being raised to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Two little girls from West Point, Kimora and Miashayla Cox, did their share by setting up a table just outside the Prairie Arts Festival to sell cold drinks, 100% of all proceeds to go to Hurricane Harvey Relief. Their mom, LaTasha Cunningham Cox, stated, “They saw what was happening and just wanted to do something. People have been so generous. Some have just given money out of the goodness of their hearts. The girls have a caring heart. Every year, at Christmas, they adopt a little girl named Casey so she will have a merry Christmas, so them wanting to do this didn’t surprise me.”
