Truck Fire at the Soccer Complex

Truck Fire at the Soccer Complex

Special to the Packet

A red Nissan Titan caught fire at the soccer complex in Columbus on Tuesday at around 1:00 p.m. An on-scene source who spoke to The Packet reported that the fire was caused by the driver allowing the transmission fluid to run dry, resulting in the truck igniting. As the fire began to intensify, a Good Samaritan arrived at the scene after seeing the flames from across the fields. The individual attempted to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, but the fire department arrived at that moment. The grass-cutting crew, known as Styrons Lawn Service, was already present and used their water coolers to help extinguish the flames. Additionally, the crew assisted in salvaging personal belongings from both the interior and the rear of the truck.
