Multi-Agency Effort Results in Arrest Following Dramatic Pursuit and Crash in Brooksville

A two-vehicle accident on the bridge just before Sessums Road on 45 S Alt led to a series of
extraordinary events on Friday. A Lowndes County Deputy arrived at the scene, only to be confronted
with an unexpected turn of events. The driver of one of the cars involved in the crash fled on foot,
executing evasive maneuvers as they circled back around. The fleeing individual managed to gain access
to the Deputy’s SUV and swiftly sped off towards Noxubee County.
Meanwhile, a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) agent, heading northbound on 45 Alt, spotted the
stolen SUV and promptly altered their course. The MBN agent initiated pursuit of the fleeing suspect.
The high-speed chase continued into Brooksville, where the stolen SUV crashed in the median.
A combined effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies ensued, including the MBN, Lowndes
County Deputies, Brooksville Police, Noxubee County Deputies, and state troopers, to ensure the
apprehension of the suspect responsible for the chain of events.
The individual, now faces a range of charges stemming from the incident. These charges include, 2x
leaving the scene of an accident, 3x driving on the wrong side of the road, expired drivers license,
driving under the influence-1st

offense, 2x reckless driving, felony taking of motor vehicle, possession of
methamphetamine. 25-year-old Marcus White is facing nearly a dozen charges that encompass both
felonies and misdemeanors.
A deputy attempted to catch up with White and left their cruiser to chase him through the woods. Sheriff
Eddie Hawkins stated that’s when White circled back around to the deputy’s cruiser and took off down
Highway 45 Alternate.
