STING Unit Nabs Two Notorious Felons Who Have Been Arrested More Than 40 Times

 The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics STING Unit has charged two suspects and seized marijuana, a gun, and cash following a tip from a concerned citizen. Demetrius Lenard Burgin and Deoka Commerenice Williams face charges of possession of marijuana, more than one ounce, with intent to distribute, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. The arrest occurred at Colony House Apartments on 5th Street North in Columbus. Approximately two pounds of marijuana, $4,938.00 in cash, and one handgun were confiscated. The caller reported suspicious activity and a high volume of traffic to and from the apartment.

 

Both Burgin and Williams are currently on probation. Additionally, Williams was wanted by MDOC for failure to report and is under house arrest with a malfunctioning ankle bracelet. Williams was found not living at her registered address with MDOC. Both suspects have a criminal history with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. Burgin has been booked into the jail 34 times, facing 27 misdemeanors and 7 felonies, including Aggravated Assault and drug charges. Williams has 10 previous charges, 5 of which are felonies, including burglary of a business and Dog Stealing.
